I was a student in Steve Ethridge's Composition Class at UCF yesterday and I just wanted to thank you for everything you do and for coming in yesterday and presenting that amazing speech. That was truly the most impactful event that I have ever experienced and I just wanted to let you know that you truly made a difference in my life. You're such an amazing person for everything you and I truly felt a tug on my heart to start making a difference after what I saw and heard yesterday. I have always been a huge animal lover and have tried to stay away from meat as much as possible, but just like you said, I had my blinders on before, but now since I am truly exposed to the reality of it all, I know what I have to do now to make a change. I am going to work as hard as possible to become a vegan and I already bought tons of Gardein packages and the first meal was amazing! I just needed to tell you thank you so much for everything you do to make the world a better place and I hope I can meet you again someday and do lots of the same work you are doing for God and animals! I am going to live the rest of my life in a better way and truly make a difference because of you! You are an Inspiration and a Hero! God Bless.

I'm 19 and live in Israel. The day before I saw your lecture I had my night meal of pork steak, which was my last. It's been 3 days. I have health issues, I was born with SMA type 2 disease (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) and am currently in a wheelchair. I'm used to going against the world. I had to. When I was a kid, the doctors said I would die by the age of 8 and If I didn't, I would be hooked up to a breathing-machine. Everybody thinks that SMA is a death sentence. And everybody thinks that killing animals is right. THEY DON'T KNOW SHIT. I want to be a part of the real world. Nobody has to kill a cow or a chicken or a duck to survive. It's 2012!

You've inpsired me to go vegan! I've always questioned the morality of the things we humans do both to each other and to the animals. Yet I've been held back by that one question in my head: "What am I willing to sacrifice for the good of suffering animals?" That one question held me back for a long time, and it churned my insides a bit because it hurt me to support the hurting of others. Though you easily convinced me by making me realize that in truth, I'm not sacrificing anything. I'm making my life better at the "cost" of making other lives better too. I'm almost ashamed when I think of how I suppressed my own morality due to vague excuses. So I'm here to thank you for removing my blinders, and making me see that going vegan is better both for myself and everyone else. It's just a pity I had to see a benefit for myself before I did the change. Though I guess this way is at least better than nothing.

I am impressed with your fight to the animals rights. I would like to put your video on my web page which will be done by the next month. A lot of people follow my work, and I have a good chance to get them to start thinking about what we are doing do the animals. What you are doing is very necessary.

Greetings from Norway. I just wanted to let you know that you are a real inspiration. Please don't ever stop. A couple of weeks ago I considered being a vegan but I wasn't sure if I could do it. Your video removed all doubt I had. I've loved meat and milk and eggs almost my entire life, and I was completely addicted to it, but because of you, just the thought of a glass of milk now makes me sick to my stomach. And it just makes me sick the kind of world we live in, where people look at me weird because I don't want animal products anymore, and they are all brainwashed into thinking that meat is normal, and healthy. So thank you, thank you so much for changing my life. You are amazing. And you are a very talented person, you really know how to speak so that people will listen.

I live in Israel. I came upon you after a friend sent me a link to your lecture. I was vegetarian for 8 years and vegan for two. But a couple years ago I started eating meat again. Your speech took me back home to where I really want to be. A day after listening to you I went back vegan. It's been a couple weeks since and I'm really proud of my choice. I get questioned a lot so I basically quote you and eventually refer them to your speech. I think your activity is outstanding and you're doing an amazing thing. Thank you for what you are doing, I know the animals appreciate it, and so do I.

I am a secondary student from Adelaide, South Australia. I have been passionately Vegan for almost a year now. I loved your lecture, and strongly support your stance on animal rights. In year 12, students are required to complete a 'research project' on a topic of their choice. I have chosen to base mine on a comparison between a herbivorous diet, and an omnivorous one. I would like to be able to further my knowledge in a number of issues related to diet, as well as animal cruelty, and additionally pollution. I was hoping that perhaps you might be interested in answering a few questions via email, so that I might be able to include the information you provide me as a primary source I can use in my research.

I saw one of your videos and was amazed and disgusted at the cruel truth. By listening to your eloquent speech and by watching the video footage I was awakened in a way I was never before. Although I dislike watching these type of videos, (because I usually kept the mentality of only watching and feeding my brain with positive things thus remaining ignorant and becoming insensitive), I was able to finish it until the end. So I am grateful for you courage, your sense of compassion, your view on morality and ethics, and love towards all living creatures. I will be vegan for good, and educate my friends and family in these matters.

I'm from Italy. I've been thinking about turning veg for years, but there was always some pro-meat-eating arguments in my mind, and fears, that I wasn't able to counter. Then I saw your speech. And when I showed it to my almost-wife, we decided to turn veg together. By the way, you may be interested in knowing that the most famous Italian doctor, Umberto Veronesi, who is the Head of the European Institute of Oncology, is vegan! During interviews he refers to himself as a vegetarian but in fact he states that "humans should eat only fruit, legumes and vegetables." I think that turning veg has nothing to do with the concept of "revolution". I simply see it as a further step toward a sustainable evolution.

We will be showing 'Forks Over Knives' and i will be talking about veganism as it pertains to nutrition and climate effects on the 21st of February. I wanted to ask if it would be possible to make translation of your speech to turkish and copy it on cd and let people take it with them when we have events and also for people who come to the restaurant.

An English version of the Israeli website has just been proofread: www.gary-tv.com/en/. Last week, a well known Politician in Israel gave his reaction to your speech at www.gary-tv.com/garymain/?page_id=2834. And there's an article/mini-project in a very popular economic newspaper in Israel called the Calcalist. The article was the cover story of the Leisure section, and it names the "10 stops on the way to veganism" and the first stop is your speech: www.calcalist.co.il/consumer/articles/0,7340,L-3562186,00.html.

Today I saw the speech you gave at Georgia Tech. It truly inspired me to get totally rid of the addiction/habit of eating meat. I believe that most meat eaters also love animals, and don't mean to hurt them. The big problem is that people just don't realize how meat came on their plate. You are doing a great job waking up people, and I am forwarding the word to people around me.

I have to say that I was very skeptical of being vegetarian or even vegan before your presentation. I did not even write down your e-mail when you told us to because I thought you would not be able to convince me. I was afraid of change. I could barely watch the video you had showed us in class and that was just an ounce of what animals go through. I love animals, but when I see that chicken breast in my sandwich from Subway, I like to forget it came from an animal. We have all this fresh produce in front of us and the first thing we think our appetite wants is a beef or chicken. This high demand for meat is discouraging but I will not let it get the best of me in my goal to become a vegetarian and possibly a vegan. I want to be consistent for my health and love for animals. Today, I went to the grocery store and did not buy any meat products. I really respect that you go around and speak in schools with great honesty and sincerity. I love how you share not just facts, but life experiences with your father and other family. Looking at PETA's website probably would have never convinced me; even watching what doctors on TV or my brother telling me to go vegetarian when I was younger did not convince me, but you did and thank you for that.

I WANT TO PERSONALLY APOLOGIZE FOR THE RUDENESS YOU EXPERIENCED IN OUR CLASS. I think it was TOTALLY disrespectful for anyone to tell you to leave because this is not their personal room and you weren't invited by them. I was appalled that the woman sitting next to me even had the nerve to say such a thing, especially considering that she's a senior citizen and expects respect so she should give respect also. I really enjoyed your presentation and appreciate you taking the time and effort to try and educate us about a very important topic. I plan on trying some of the products that you showed us and see if I like them. I've had vanilla soy milk before and it wasn't bad at all. It actually tasted better than regular or 2% milk. Plus I'm overweight and would definitely consider changing the way I eat. I'm pregnant and plan to breastfeed so I know that the healthier I eat then the healthier my child will be. When you left a lot of students began to argue and say that she was very rude because they had more questions. Once again I apologize on behalf of the very rude individuals.

i am 24 and i have been vegan 2 month now. before i saw your lecture i still had a doubt about how dairy products were harmful and caused so much suffering to animals (my addiction speaking of course). it is also a bit more difficult to make the transition here, in Romania, as we have no imitation "meat" or "dairy" dishes. i have shown your video to my father, boyfriend and some friends and it made a huge impression every time. some intend to become vegan and are consulting me with their shopping lists. your arguments leave no room for question. for that i thank you with all my heart.

I assume you get a lot of fan-mail but I have to give you my gratitude. The speech I found on youtube changed my life. I used to be a tired/always sleepy boy who ate 3 portions of meat/fish a day. I couldn't see what the causes may have been as I was eating healthy? First, I stopped eating animal protein for moral reasons but now I can't stop because of physical ones. I have never felt more alive and alert. Please keep up the good job. This world is far from perfect! And maybe one day we will look back, and tell our grandchildren that you were the Martin Luther King of the animals.

I live in Tel Aviv, Israel. I just finished watching your lecture on youtube. I am literally sitting here crying, mainly because I feel so sad for the animals and what they have to go through because of us. I am also upset with myself for not "investigating" this situation earlier. It is true that we are in denial. I always wondered about this but it never bothered me enough to really do something about it. I was raised in South Africa. If you know anything about South Africans you will know that they love eating meat. So needless to say I came from a house where we had meat on our table every day. I am ashamed of this now. Thank you for speaking to me through this lecture. You really hit home. My fridge is usually filled with meat and milk and cheese. Even on my salads. After sending this mail I promise to you and to myself and to every animal out there, that I will throw out all the milk, all the cheese and give away the meat in my fridge.

So we have the meat and dairy industries making us sick with the wonderful backing of the USDA and FDA and our government. And alas, the pharmaceutical industry comes to the rescue to "help cure our ailments" for $$$$$. Total bullshit. I've seen the light! Thank for spreading the word and taking a stand. You are an inspiration. And I appreciate your website. I am learning so much about veganism. I was raised in Alaska, and we ate meat or fish for every meal. I've watched a lot of animal rights videos, and I only thought about the cruelty of the factory farming of animals, not the rights of animals. Your video showed me a totally different outlook. Combining the facts about cruelty, the physical harm that eating meat does to the person, and the planet. Thanks again for enlightening me.

I'm 22 from israel. A friend sent me your lecture and I became a vegan. I showed it to my family and they stopped consuming animal products too. My boyfriend saw it yesterday and he went vegan as well. When the time comes to start my own family, they will be vegan, too. Thank you for opening our eyes to the truth that was there all the time. You are doing something great in this world! People in israel are influenced by you, and i'm sure it's the same in other countries.

I am working on a plant based athlete documentary which I think will have a huge impact on people switching their diet. I think that athletes will do the best job at dispelling the myth that one needs animal products.

Someone had told me about your lecture on veganism at a vegan group I attended in my home city of Manchester, UK on Wednesday night. I watched it last night on YouTube for the first time ever and was simply bowled over by it. I have been slowly moving towards veganism for a few months. However, I think your lecture has been the thing that has made me decide once and for all that I am going to commit to veganism. I wish everyone I know would watch it, and I wish you could come to the UK and do some talks here! Thanks for being the inspiration I needed to commit to the diet that I know is the only compassionate choice.

I found your speech on the Polish website www.alterkino.org. I've been vegan for 10 years. I am writing my PhD dissertation on the Moral Status of Animals at the University of Szczecin, Poland. I am writing to you because I was amazed by your charisma and passion. I try to give lectures from time to time in different cities in Poland, but they are all stiff, sometimes a little bit complicated or boring. I admire your talent to speak clearly, wisely, yet simply and directly. This year me and my friends from the Department of Ethics wanted to prepare a free open conference on Animal Ethics. Unfortunately we were not able to find a guest who would specialize in animal ethics. Peter Singer has no time (and I do not agree with a lot of his ethics). We can't afford to fly Tom Regan here. I've also written to the Oxford Centre of Animal Ethics, but they were all busy too. Anyway I'd rather invite you than any others as I've seen Singer before in Warsaw and his lectures are a bit boring. It's great that your lecture is available online. I have already put in on our website on Practical Ethics (unfortunately it's mostly in Polish, but you can see it here. I like when you speak about ALF actions, like it was something natural we all should do when we see injustice in front of our eyes. I would never have enough guts to do such things but I have always understood that it is necessary.

Today we threw out all the food products in our house that contained animal byproducts. We as a family have decided to go vegan. Firstly let me begin by saying that your lecture was inspiring, and I am going to become vegan. As a Muslim (white British convert, probably not your typical Muslim) I believe that all animals should be treated with respect and as equals. The Quran certainly does not advocate the atrocities that occur every second on this planet to innocent animals. Thank you for such an honest and eye opening lecture that should surely impact anyone who sees it. Those whom it does not affect are clearly too brainwashed by the "system".

I'm 21 and I live in Israel. I've recently watched the lecture you gave at Georgia Tech, and I felt the need to let you know that it turned my world upside down. I'm originally from Bogota, Colombia, and as a proud South American, meat has always been part of my menu. Over the years I've had many friends turn to vegetarians as did my current boyfriend, however I was always reluctant to follow them under the impression that meat and animal products are a necessity to humans. Two days ago, my boyfriend whose biggest passion in life is pizza, woke me up and said: "I think I'm going to be eating a lot of vegetables from now on." Since this guy wouldn't be caught dead with a carrot in his system, he had my attention. At first I was upset since I've always been told that being a vegan is bad for you and makes you more susceptible to diseases, so obviously I was worried for his health. At this point he told me about your lecture and suggested we watch it together. So I sat in front of the screen with my dog's head resting on my lap and watched the entire thing. I want to tell you that I am not easily affected by lectures and empathy isn't something that I feel very often, and yet from the first video you showed on that lecture I couldn't stop crying. I sat there, and I simply wasn't able to understand who would do such things to innocent beings? I couldn't believe how ignorant we all are and how many lies we are being fed with ALL the time. I can say without a doubt that the images from that lecture will be burned in my mind forever, and it pains me so much that there is so little that I can do help them. I want to thank you for taking my blinders off, and showing me truth about this industries. I want to thank you for fighting the way you do and not giving up (I can't imagine how hard it must be to fight against ignorants with power). I want you to know that as insignificant as one person can be to such a struggle, I've changed my lifestyle to veganism, and it's important for me to let you know that you are responsible for that. Needless to say that your lecture has been forwarded to absolutely everyone I know, hopefully changing their lifestyle as well. I never thought I'd experience such a radical change, and I only wish it would've happened sooner. I hope that you keep getting through to people like you did with me and I would love to contribute as much as I can to help end this cruelty.

Thank you for the voluminous amounts of information. You changed the way I look at our society and myself in an instant. I watched your lecture and it was so insightful and helpful. I was a pescatarian for a while, but when i saw your lecture i realized that all living things feel the same pain no less no more. At first i wanted to become a vegan for myself, to better my health but i realized that was just selfish and i shouldn't be a vegan just for my sake, but for the sake of the animals that suffer each and every day. I want to take a stand and make a difference, even though i'm 15 and i'm limited to what i can and can't do, i still want to do all i can to spread awareness and stop animal cruelty.

My husband showed me your video right after I saw a show that discussed not drinking milk. If you would have told me 15 minutes before the video that the day after, at lunch, I'd skip the chicken and eat nothing but rice and potatoes, I would probably have said no way. I love food, especially dead things. But your video changed my life. You are so damn charismatic and explained things so well that even though things are well known to us, we do not want to believe. I really didn't want to watch the slaughterhouse video but when you said, "if it's not good enough for your eyes then why is it good enough for your stomach" convinced me to see the truth. Thanks for every piece of knowledge you shared with us.

I was a student in Professor James Schultz's philosophy class that you spoke at in November. You may remember me because we spoke for a few minutes, the one in the wheelchair that works for Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority. First of all, I wanted to give you my sincere thanks for your presentation. It's always refreshing to have someone reveal any truth to you that you have been denied through living such a jaded life of conformity. I have been a vegan since your presentation. I could continue about my path of enlightenment through veganism but that's not exactly the reason I wanted to email you. The real reason is I had a perspective on veganism I thought might be unique or new to you. I train people on the rights of recipients receiving public mental health services. A large portion of our training explains the history of Community Mental Health and how prior to the Community Mental Health Act that was enacted in 1963, people with mental illnesses and developmental disabilities were often institutionalized and abused, neglected, and mistreated in every unthinkable fashion. The environments of these places they lived are appropriately paralleled to concentration camps and their is an abundance of first hand accounts and actual video and audio footage to prove it. We explain to the staff of the people who now serve public mental health recipients, that though it may seem inconceivable to treat human beings like this by today's standards, our justification for doing it 50 years ago in "the land of the free" was that these individuals were not viewed as "human" in the first place. Because people thought that having a cognitive or mental illness made you incapable of feeling or "understanding" relationships, they did not necessitate love, compassion, or hope for these people. Even people that had developmental disabilities, like cerebral palsy, that could not speak or communicate physically but were very high functioning on a mental level, were often thrown into the mix of this categorically misjudged group. I found your comparison of industrial farming to the holocaust intriguing on a higher level because of my experience with dealing with our history with the disabled. I find that when I use that comparison to talk to people about veganism they get extremely angry and accuse me of using gross generalizations. People cannot seem to understand the fundamental link between disregard for the capacity of all human beings to feel and need love and compassion and the same exact disregard for animals to also feel and need love and compassion. Forget cultural and religious differences, how about the people who don't think or communicate like "we" do? The ones who are only capable of uttering a grunt or thrashing their arms to demonstrate their distress? Very much as you explained how a caged mink will move their head around and around in circles, in my video of a now closed institution the camera at one point zooms in on a child with her hands in a prayer like position, staring at the ceiling, rocking back and forth. If the holocaust is nothing like caging and wasting the lives of innocent animals, is institutionalizing people with severe disabilities until they contract pneumonia or hepatitis and die without ever experiencing love and compassion a more relative comparison? Does it get a little more difficult to draw that line for people between human rights and animal rights? Can we honestly and confidently say that a person with a severe cognitive disability has more of an ability to feel and more of a need for compassion and love than a cow does? Our psychology forces our perceptions to be influenced by the degree in which we relate to others. The less we relate, the less we sympathize. Impressions lead to perceptions, perceptions lead to behavior. If people could step out of their defensive stances for one minute and recognize that as a species we have so many mental fallacies, or mistakes of logic in our thinking, and that we are routinely unaware of those fallacies, we could transcend our own natural ignorance and advance in the evolutionary process, rather than sticking to the traditional mistakes of our predecessors. Evolution isn't just about looking at what we have done in the past, but looking at how we have changed. Our ancestors believed a lot of weird things. Why can't we acknowledge that thinking we're supposed to be eating everything that is not a Homo sapien might be one of our many historical errors of judgement? Thanks again for your work and how it has inspired me and the way I do my work. Its not just about being a vegan, it's all about rights, and that's my specialty.

I was already vegan when I watched the video (I have been for quite some time), but witnessing your speech inspired me to dedicate my life to the cause. How could I let him fight this battle without all the help he can get?" Just last night, I watched the Georgia Tech lecture with my wife. I am vegan, and she is not. For years I have been trying to show everyone in my life the way of the vegan. Unfortunately, I have not had much success. Last night changed this. I believe there was a real breakthrough with my wife. She was definitely affected by your lecture. At first, the response was, "I'll cut back." I then asked her if it would be O.K. for me to cheat on her, but only sometimes. I then stated, "Clearly, it is a taste/texture issue, which to me is inexcusable. How can taste buds influence morality and ethics? I just don't get it." I truly believe I have her on the right track now, and it's all thanks to you.

You helped me understand much more about the positive effects of veganism. And now i have all the more to defend myself with when a meat eater thinks I'm being ridiculous. I've gone against strong opposition with friends and family in persuading them to practice courtesy and see where and how their food is made. I continue to stand my ground. i'm from mexico and just recently watched your speech. i'm 24 years old and have been eating animals all these years. my new year's resolution is to stop and become a vegan. i no longer want to be a part of this cruel bullshit. but more than that i want and need to do something more. i just can't stand sitting here while millions of animals are being abused and slaughtered. it's depressing just to think about not doing anything about it. i want to be an activist. i also want to thank you for being who you are and standing up for animals. i really admire you and your courage. you made me realize that there's a reason that i'm still alive. that i might even have a purpose here and that there's still hope for animals, and for this world. and i just convinced my mom to go vegan because of your video. no more meat or dairy in this house!

My name is Helen Vonderheide and I am a producer from Los Angeles. I recently came across your youtube video and was so personally moved that I felt compelled to take action as a film maker. I would like to help you get your message across through a documentary that is more personally and emotionally engaging. Not that you haven't done so already but something to really engage an audience to take action as well. How would you feel about partnering up with me so we can create something that will have a powerful, ripple effect? Please take a moment to check out my website and learn a little more about me: www.justbeefilms.com. I would be honored to work with you in some capacity.

My name is Samuel McAnallen, director of a feature-length documentary currently under production in Australia. I am contacting you on behalf of our team to request comment for the documentary. The mission of the film has been to invalidate the myth that there is a great division between humans and all other life forms and that humans are somehow superior. It dissects and criticises the popular, subjective reasons for human superiority and then furthers matters by comparing humans and other life forms from a more evolutionary perspective. The film strongly promotes critical thinking and evidence-based understanding of all life forms on Earth, while overcoming underlying strongly anthropocentric beliefs. Speakers in the film include: Dr. Richard Ryder, inventor of the term speciesism, and Dr. Bernard Rollin, authority on animal consciousness, university distinguished professor, author.

I'm from Israel and almost 17 years old. As a very serious athlete (boxer), I always thought that vegetarians were crazy. Two months ago I decided to watch your wonderful lecture. I thank you for helping me make the transition. I feel better, stronger and I'm happy that you showed me the truth. Now, all five members of my family are also vegan and I'm also strongly affecting a very large part of my school.

I saw your video and you made so much sense about animal cruelty. Thank you for making sacrifices with your life to save the animals and may many people follow your footsteps.

I'm from Mexico. I have seen your lecture on youtube. Me and my girlfriend started a company, dedicated to making supplies for cats. We want to start a foundation dedicated to animal rescue in Mexico City. Thanks to your talk, we are now vegans. We would like to have each person who is interested in adopting a pet watch your speech at the shelter before they adopt. We are confident that human consciousness begins by respecting others. Animals are seen as things, and not as lives and when we change that image, respect and peace will begin to emerge.

I would just like to thank and commend you for all of your humble and valiant inspirational works in making our world a better place. Me and two of my friends support this cause. The three of us are in tenth grade and are currently attending secondary school in B.C. We would like to make a difference like you have. We all feel very strongly on this issue. We would like to do whatever is in our power to make a change. We were wondering if you could be so kind as to recommend some potential methods that we could use to help the animal liberation movement. Though we fully recognize that we are not able to do much on a large scale, we would be honoured to help on a much smaller scale. We see you as an inspiration, and a hero.
